Workers training reminders

Post by Jonnyboy »

Hi all  , first post here. I'm about to be thrown into the deep end in regards to looking after SHEQ in my workplace. Currently I'm a SHEQ assistant (3 months in the role) to a SHEQ manager but she's moving on, on Friday. So I'm stepping up to a coordinator role. So be prepared for plenty of questions over the next few days, weeks, months .compress

Anyway, we have a training matrix in place. Kept up to date etc. but my first question here is. Do anyone use anything to alert them when peoples training is coming up for renewal? Something to remind them other that checking the matrix every week? Its trivial I know and if all my future issues were such I'll be alright but I doubt I will be so lucky!

Thanks

We use bespoke software so individuals, managers and trainers get informed. We set up a matrix that was loaded into the software, with frequency of course etc and the rest is history, as they say. However we are a very large international firm.

Previously I have used an excel s[readhseet and have set up a formula for the cell to change colour after a specific period so you can get 3 months (or whatever you need) to setup manage the training.

Hi Will, thanks for the reply. We are currently looking at different software but that could be a while off.

I will do a google and get a formula for our training matrix. Probably the easiest and most cost effective way of doing it at the moment.

We use excel and a formula set up within the L&D team to give us a traffic light warning.

Green is plenty of time of the training, amber colour codes to say training is due in the next 1-3 months and red is highlighting overdue or not yet completed if its mandatory compliance training.
As we have over 500 people having the colours does give an easy visual of whats due!

Luckily we have an L&D specialist who is able to keep on top of this and allocate out training before its too late.
