Board rules

These rules are disclosed to clarify the various responsibilities of all community members here on Health and Safety for Beginners Forums. They shall be adhered to by everyone to ensure that our board runs smoothly and provides a fun and productive experience for all of our community members and visitors.

  1. Introduction

    1. This community forum is here to help provide advice on health, safety, environmental issues and studies for many types of courses. Please try to keep your postings relevant to the question or topic in hand - it is very easy to lose track of what the original post contained. If a post is seen to be losing it's way, the moderator team will help guide it along or it may end up being locked.

Occasionally topics will become heated debates where people may not agree on certain challenges faced. There is no problem with heated debates as long as it doesn't result in personal insults or remarks which are offensive to any individuals or groups of people. Where a debate is seen to be getting 'out of hand' it may end up being locked and/or edited/deleted by the moderator team. If a locked post is restarted by any member of the forums in a separate post, it will be locked/edited/deleted as necessary to prevent further abuse of these terms and conditions. Ignoring this rule may lead to your account being deleted and your IP address being banned permanently from all HSfB web sites.

      Be Nice

The majority of visitors to this forum will be mature pleasant and most of all, helpful people who are here to offer constructive advice, and we will aim to keep it like that.

This forum maintains the belief that there is no stupid question in health and safety; if you do not know then you simply do not know. Please treat all questions with respect. These forums are aimed at beginners and we have all been beginners.

Above all, have a wee bit of fun while you're here :D #
  2. Keeping the Peace

    1. HSfB operates a three strike policy. Users will be warned a maximum of three times for any and all offences in a three month period. If the need arises for a fourth warning a temporary ban will be put in place of between 1 to 7 days. #
    2. Arguing with team members after having received a warning will lead to an immediate additional warning. Should this exceed three strikes a temporary ban will be put in place as above. #
    3. Users who feel they have been unfairly warned are welcome to contact the board Administrator by using the 'Contact Us' form at the foot of the forums. If they feel you were unfairly warned, the warning may be removed. #
    4. Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban or other moderator action will lead to a permanent ban of your account(s). Circumvention includes re-registering or using an already registered account under a non-banned username. Other examples include changing IP addresses, using a new email account or other action that can be taken to evade moderator action to hide your identity as the owner of the sanctioned account. #
    5. An exception to the three strike rule applies when users contact team members or forum users personally (via any method) and post insulting, indecent or vulgar material. Such users may be subject to an immediate permanent ban. #
    6. Permanent bans are a last resort and thought is given before implementing them. While HSfB may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time, this is a rare occurrence. #
  3. Abusive and Offensive Posts

    1. All new posts will be checked by at least one of the forum moderator team and will be edited/deleted if any contain offensive, rude, racist, sexist, abusive comments of any sort. Zero tolerance approach.

If repeated posts occur as suggested, the offending IP addresses will be permanently banned from all HSfB web sites without warning and your IP address and email address may be sent to your internet provider for further action.

Personal insults or attacks will not be tolerated on this forum. Offenders will be asked to cease this type of behaviour only once. Any repeat of this behaviour will result in a ban from all HSfB web sites.

If you experience any abusive behaviour from any community member in any form, please inform an Administrator or a member of the Moderator Team. #

      • Rude jokes will be edited or removed with the poster being notified and reminded of these guidelines
      • Rude pictures will not be tolerated - warnings or a ban may be issued by the Moderator team if felt appropriate

  11. HSfB Says NO to Spam

    1. As HSfB grows, we will be subjected to increasing volumes of spam attacks. These spam attacks may be from spam organisations who use robots and/or human spammers. In an attempt to combat this, we will use a combination of anti-spam extension to the forums and the skills of our Moderator team.

If a spammer bot registers with the forums and attempts to spam the forums, a member of the Moderator team will edit the account of the spammer to remove any offending text/links until such times as the account's email and username can be banned and deleted.

If a human spammer registers with the forums and attempts to spam the forums, the Moderator team has the option of removing the spam and issuing a warning or treating the account as a spammer bot as explained above.

Occasionally, newly registered legitimate members may be inadvertently banned. In which case, please use the 'Contact Us' form at the foot of the forums to request the ban to be lifted.

We try our best to eliminate all offensive links in users' profiles, but sometimes they may be on view for a few hours until one of the moderator team can remove them. We can only apologise if you do see something offensive.

Please do not click on any links in a member's profile if you think it may be spam. If you are not sure of a link, then just don't click it.

If you ever suspect a link to be spam, please just alert one of our Moderators and we will investigate the link safely for you. If necessary, we will contact the police to report web sites as we have done in the past.

These rules also apply to private messaging and the use of the forum email system. Abuse of these systems may lead to warnings, removal of the private message and email function from your account or banned.
